Eastern Shore Community College provides training for volunteers through the Adult Education program. Volunteers are provided with support on the job under the direction of a master teacher, in on-line courses offered by Virginia Commonwealth University Adult Learning Resources Center, and in semi-annual staff development workshops at ESCC. Minnesota Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a state-wide system that serves approximately 65, adults annually. ABE students are working towards a high school credential, learning English, improving basic skills such as literacy and math, and/or preparing for post-secondary education or employment.
